ABOUT
French of Beninese and Cameroonian descent, Soraya Milla
is an independant filmmaker who grew up
between France, Ivory Coast and Benin. She gratuated in Performing Arts at
the University of Paris X, Film direction at the IAD (Belgium) and Film
production at INA in Paris.
She directed two short films Exotique (2015) and Vitiligo (2018). Both are fables about hair and Black skin, selected significantly in many international festivals, available in several VOD platforms and broadcasted on Air France airlines and the French TV channel Canal+.
In 2020, she co-wrote, produced and directed Afropolitaine with her mother Aline Angelo Milla, a web series which portrays the daily life of an Afro French family and embodies the "Afro French Touch" she wishes to develop. Season 2 was released in April 2023 on TV5 Monde channel.
Her creations approaches with humor and freshness the theme of dual Afro-French culture,
with a desire to highlight positive black female characters from various backgrounds.
Soraya is represented by the French talent’s agency Lise Arif, member of SACD and the 50/50 French collective for gender parity and diversity in French cinema and Television.
